January Drupal Download Statistics

Well, after looking at Octobers drupal download data and then losing the data for November and December due to unintended consequences of some configuration changes...here is January's data:

Most Popular Modules for January - Overall

These are the most popular across all versions of drupal (e.g. aggregated 4.6, 4.7, and 5.x versions together) so it's somewhat unfairly weighted to the old modules.

Much like previous months - people love images and wysiwyg (images being gallery/image/imce and wysiwyg being imce/tinymce/fckeditor).

Most Popular Themes for January - Overall

This was a bit of a surprise to me - the bluebreeze theme is proving to be very popular. This is a brand new theme and it works great. I'm using it on a site and was very pleased with the ease of customising some small pieces it to fit a wider fixed width. Similarly, the brand new zen theme is also rather popular.

Another interesting trend is the strength of the themes that are towards the beginning of the alphabet. In october I thought it was a fluke...now I think it's a real trend. I'm not sure what we can/should do to fix that...

Most Popular Translations for January - Overall

The translations seem to show that German and Spanish are popular, but Chinese (ZH-*) gets further up the top of the list if you combine both zh-hant and zh-hans.

Everything - by simplified version

Ok, so what if we look at modules, themes, screencasts, and core broken down by version. If we add all of those up which versions are the most popular...4.7 and 5 are very close, and then HEAD (likely from the testing 5 before it had a number) and then 4.6 in distant 4th place.

So, that's about it.
